Prayer is an essential part of our relationship with God that allows us to communicate with him.
I have been in circumstances or situations where I pray to God and my prayers simply go unanswered. Have you ever found yourself in a situation like this? Maybe you will like to share your experience.
What I intend sharing centers on ANSWERED PRAYER. I would like to say prayer works and there is such a thing as answered prayer. I believe the reason most of our prayers go unanswered is because of the lack of understanding of the subject of prayer and it is my prayer that after sharing the truths centered on ANSWERED PRAYER from the Word of God we will get 100% ANSWERS to our PRAYERS.
Sit tight as we unravel the truths surrounding answered prayer.
Knowing why our prayers go unanswered will help us understand and know how to pray efficiently and have results.
1 John 5:14-15 (KJV)
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
The Bible tells us in 1 John 5:14-15 that when we pray according to the will of God, he hears us and if we know that he does then whatsoever we ask we know that we have the petitions we desired of him. This is amazing! WHATSOEVER WE ASK, WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE THE PETITIONS WE DESIRED OF HIM. WOW!
So what happens when we do not pray according to His will? Does He still hear us? My answer is no and that will result in unanswered prayer.
However God has promised us in Isaiah 65:24 that "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
Isn't that amazing? Before we have even finished putting our words together God assures us of an answer to our request. We know according to this promise that he hears us. We are so sure of it.
Remember what the first line of 1 John 5:14-15 says? "AND THIS IS THE CONFIDENCE we have in HIM...". We are so sure of it that if it is God we are speaking to he hears and he is capable of doing for us whatever we ask of him.
Let me say that the confidence we have in him that guarantees answered prayer is based on His promises concerning us. It is based on our relationship with him. The relationship is what I call faith. And this faith is based on the Word of God which is His express will for us. So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
We build trust/confidence in God through the hearing of His Word which is the faith with which we come to him in prayer.
Answered prayer requires faith in God. We come to God knowing that he is and a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. We come to God trusting that whatever petitions we lay before him he will answer us. And we know who he is, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that the things we see were not made out of things which do appear. We are so sure that God is capable of meeting our every need. So thanks be to God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we may think or ask of him according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
